Hello Parents, Teachers and Students!
Our pop tab contest was so successful we are going to do it again, we will be have one winner from each grade that can win an ICE CREAM PARTY!
Why we recycle:
Recycling is very important as waste has a huge negative impact on the natural environment. Harmful chemicals and greenhouse gasses are released from rubbish in landfill sites. Recycling helps to reduce the pollution caused by waste.
Why are we collecting pop tabs and not the whole can?
Two reasons: First; the tab is much cleaner and easier to collect in large quantities than whole cans. The tab of a standard soda can, or soup can is made of high quality, high-grade aluminum. That is easily recycled.
Secondly; we can join efforts with our local Ronald McDonald House. They have a recycling program that takes the tabs to a recycling center. They in turn receive money for the recycled tabs. The money raised helps offset the cost for the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte.
What is the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte?
The Ronald McDonald House offers a comforting “home away from home” and a community of support for seriously ill children and their families.
